I debated for the longest of time on what Neji's nature affinity would be. Wind seemed to be the obvious choice, but it never made any sense to me. Call me unoriginal, but the manipulation of energy like in water-bending seemed more like the Gentle Fist (even if air-bending and the Gentle Fist both were derived from Bagua...) Since all jounin typically know two elemental styles, I decided Neji's affinities would be primary Water, secondary Air.
I consider Gai's affinity to be primary Earth, secondary Fire, so naturally I would want Neji's affinities to oppose his for challenge's sake.
Besides. Water and Lightning have such potential to work together, so that works. There was never any doubt in my mind that Karui's element was primary Lightning. I'm not sure if she's a jounin yet, but I doubt she'd hone another elemental style.
I love how Karui turned out. Especially her face. Here's a close up.
I had a lot of fun drawing this and learning new techniques to get what I wanted across. It didn't turn out quite like I expected- for better or for worse in different places- and there were several final versions of this piece. I got a second, outside opinion on them and this one won out, so it was the one posted.

Er...interesting concept, but I'm pretty sure my nature is wind.
